Summer School "Advanced School on Data Assimilation (2013 edition)"
June 24-28, 2013
Bologna (Italy)
Sponsored by
Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC)

Objectives

In the fields of oceanography, meteorology and climatology, the Data Assimilation (DA) combines in an optimal way observations and models. In the atmosphere DA is mature and developed, while in the recent years it has become the central part of operational oceanographic systems and climatological studies of the oceans. The DA School will describe the fundamental methods and techniques used in the DA and state of the art applications. Theoretical lectures will be followed by practical exercises. The school will cover Bayesian, variational and ensemble methods, and will present applications with operational DA systems and climatological data analysis.

OS2.2-ADVANCES IN UNDERSTANDING OF THE MULTI-DISCIPLINARY DYNAMICS OF THE SOUTHERN EUROPEAN SEAS PDF Print
Thursday, 06 December 2012

General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union (Vienna, 7-12 April 2013)

OS2.2 - Advances in understanding of the multi-disciplinary dynamics of the Southern European Seas (Mediterranean and Black Sea)  (link )
Convener: Samuel Somot
Co-Conveners: Emin Özsoy , Marilaure Gregoire , Ananda Pascual

Deadlines for Abstract submission : January 9, 2013

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the forthcoming General Assembly Meeting of the EGU that will take place in Vienna, Austria, from 07-12 April 2013.

Since the 2011, a new EGU session gathers the researchers interested in the physics and biogeochemistry of the Mediterranean and Black Seas (also called the Southern European Seas).

In this period of time there are large coordinated programmes or projects concerning at least partly the Mediterranean and Black Seas, and some even have them together: PERSEUS, MedSeA, MOOSE, GROOM, EGO, MOON, HYMEX, MERMEX, MedARGO, CHARMEX, MedCLIVAR, VANIMEDAT, SiMed, MISTRALS ... and more The legacy of earlier ones like SESAME were also instrumental to have the 'seas of the old world' (Mediterranean and Black Seas) in focus, partly motivating the session.

Following the very successful last and years' sessions,  we invite you to submit (again) abstracts to the OS2.2 session.
